Unayo CFRA Football League closes with victory for Santhe ADMARC
Mchinji, 4 February 2023. The Unayo Central Region Football Association (CRFA) regional league closed with high spirits as [insert team] came out victorious in the final match. They are the champions in the 2022 Unayo Central Region Football League tournament and receive prize money of MK2 million.
The final match held at Kapiri Aubrey Dimba stadium was heavily contested and both teams exhibited a high level of football skill. This was evidently driven by the prize money and bragging rights which the league has enjoyed with sponsorship from Unayo. The Unayo National Regional League has been played in all the 29 districts of Malawi. With a three-district format where the top four teams in each district received cash prizes. Today’s final in the Centre follows the close of the NRFA league on 15th January and SRFA league earlier on 8th January 2023.
Standard Bank’s Chief Financial and Value Management Officer in his remarks said that “as seen in today’s action and throughout the course of this year, Unayo has invested in the grassroots of football and the knock-on effect has been a far reaching and long-term benefit to the overall quality of local football. Setting a benchmark for the players, officials and administrators that will eventually graduate into the higher leagues and Malawi national team.” He also reiterated that from its first launch, Unayo has been a unifying platform that has brought solutions to more Malawians and many for the first time in their life.
This cumulative impact has directly benefitted 12 teams throughout the country who walk away with cash prizes. The league has also given an opportunity for young people to engage in extra curricula activities and ignite their passion for sport. During these games, young people were engaged in the Tiyeni Momo Campaign launched by Unayo.
“The Tiyeni Momo Campaign allowed for young adults aged 18 and above to generate additional personal income by registering people on Unayo. We hope to create a culture that embraces sport and Unayo as a way of life to usher in communities the habit of self-reliance and wealth generation.” he said.
The leagues ran in the Southern, Northern and closes in the Central region of Malawi. In this weekend’s CRFA matches Santhe ADMARC and Balang’ombe Real Bombers battled it out in the final.
Unayo National Regional League was played by 64 division one teams across the three regions of Malawi with over 700 matches throughout an 8-month period. The league created sustainable partnerships and brought solutions to underdeveloped communities.
