Standard Bank Wins Dual Industry Awards

Standard Bank Malawi named Best Bank Standard Bank Malawi wins international awards for digital banking and community impact. Standard Bank Malawi has been recognized with two prestigious accolades at the Global Banking and Finance Awards 2026, winning Best Bank for Digital Services Malawi 2026 and Best CSI Initiative Malawi 2026.

Standard Bank Chief Executive Phillip Madinga said the dual recognition reflects the Bank's commitment to making banking simpler, more accessible and more relevant, while investing in initiatives that create lasting impact in communities across Malawi.

"These awards reflect our commitment to driving Malawi's growth through both innovation and purpose-led impact. As we continue to transform the banking experience through digital solutions, we are equally committed to investing in initiatives that improve lives and strengthen communities," said Madinga.

The Best Bank for Digital Services award acknowledges the Bank's continued investment in digital solutions that provide customers with secure, convenient and accessible banking services anytime and anywhere. Through its  wide digital banking ecosystem, customers can access banking services via the 247 App, 247 USSD, 247 Online, Enterprise Online, Business Online, and Kwacha Point, enabling individuals and businesses to bank seamlessly around the clock.

The Best CSI Initiative award recognises the Bank’s investment in the renovation of the Zomba Central Hospital Maternity Wing, a project that was aimed at strengthening maternal healthcare services at one of Malawi's most important referral hospitals. The hospital serves approximately 4.6 million people across six districts, receives referrals from 35 health centres, and manages an average of 630 deliveries every month.

"We believe our role extends beyond banking. Our investment in the Zomba Central Hospital Maternity Wing reflects our commitment to supporting critical healthcare infrastructure that improves the lives of mothers, newborns and families,” said Madinga.

He added that the awards are a testament to the trust placed in the Bank by its customers, employees, partners and communities and serve as motivation to continue delivering innovative solutions and impactful initiatives that help Malawi keep growing.

The recognition reinforces Standard Bank Malawi's commitment to helping its customers, businesses and communities keep growing through innovative financial solutions and impactful community investments, in line with its purpose: "Malawi is our home, we drive her growth.
